For defence contractor Jack Bevin and his partner Jay Golden, the perfect positioning of Aurora Ripley was the sealer when choosing a location for their soon-to-be-built home.
Long-time Ipswich local Jack said they found it better positioned than other estates, and with the intention to build a 25km public transport corridor between Ipswich CBD and Springfield Central, including a new station at Deebing South, he says, “Why would you want to live anywhere else?”
Jack, formerly in the air force and now working with contractor Northrop Grumman at RAAF Base Amberley, and Jay, a 3D artist for a Brisbane-based games studio have been looking in the area for their first home purchase and wanted to be close to family.
“We have been renting in the Ipswich area, but both knew our long-term goal was to build in the region and Ripley had always stood out to us,” he said. ‘We’ve always liked the spot.”

“Aurora is within a couple of minutes’ drive to both the Centenary and Cunningham highways which means everything is so accessible, including Brisbane, both the Sunshine & Gold Coasts as well as Toowoomba. Yamanto itself is booming with the new shopping centre going in.
“We had looked at other estates in the area, but nothing stood out. Aurora was presented to us and we just loved the smaller size and the bushland surrounds – it has much more appeal than the others.”
Jack and Jay intend to make their long-term home in Aurora Ripley and have purchased one of the larger lots, 480sqm on Mooloolah Street.
After looking at some home builder options, the Aurora Ripley sales team put them in touch with Simonds Homes. Construction on their single story, four-bedroom home is set to begin in January.
“We didn’t really know what to expect being first home owners and builders, but the Simonds team have been outstanding. It’s been a very smooth and stress-free process and we just knew once we came across the floor plan it would suit the positioning of our block,” Jack said.
“We like to entertain and socialise, and the solution presented by Simonds took all this into account including the Queensland climate and our wish for some outdoor living. Their house plan worked best for us.”
Jack and Jay should be in their new home at Aurora Ripley well before mid-2021.

They have taken advantage of the Queensland State Government’s first home buyer grant of $15,000 and also the Federal Government’s $25,000 HomeBuilder grant.
“We targeted Ripley,” Jack said. “It’s in such a prime spot and it’s that bit closer to Yamanto with all the coming shops and services. The whole area is on the cusp of major development – it’s a good time to be moving in with so many things coming to the region. It’s going to serve us well for the next 10-20 years.”
Launched in August 2020 by privately-owned developer Orchard Property Group, Aurora, in Ipswich’s booming southern corridor, was made possible by a $7.2 million Catalyst Infrastructure Program grant from Economic Development Queensland to undertake a major upgrade of Binnies Road, Ripley, to provide access to the site.
The Binnies Road upgrade also provides access to the proposed $1.5 billion Ripley Town Centre, giving Aurora residents the options of two major shopping precincts with the Yamanto Central development to the west due to open in mid-2021.
The first stage of the 502-lot $105 million Aurora project, comprising 63 homesites, ranges from 354 sqm to 662 sqm (420sqm median size), with land prices starting from $197,000.
The first stage is 90% sold. Limited registered lots are available ranging from 375 sqm to 545 sqm with pricing from $197,000 to $222,000*.
